The Financial requirement you need to meet

To be granted a Student Visa in the UK, you must be awarded 70 points in total, 10 of which for meeting the Financial requirement.

How you can meet this requirement depends on whether you apply for permission to enter or permission to stay in the UK, on whether you have been living in the UK with permission for less or more than 12 months on the date of application, and on whether you study in or outside London.

If you apply for entry clearance, and you intend to study in London, you must have sufficient funds to pay any outstanding course fees as stated on the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, and £1334 for each month of the course (up to a maximum of 9 months).

If you apply for entry clearance, and you intend to study outside London, you must have sufficient funds to pay any outstanding course fees as stated on the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, and £1023 for each month of the course (up to a maximum of 9 months).

If you apply for entry clearance, and you intend to study on a recognised foundation programme as a doctor or dentist in training, you will meet the financial requirement and you do not need to show funds.

If the length of your course includes a part of a month, the time period will be rounded up to the next full month.

If you have paid a deposit to your sponsor for accommodation arranged by the sponsor, this deposit (up to a maximum of £1334) can be offset against the funds required.

If you have paid all or part of your course fees to your sponsor, this must be confirmed on the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, or you must provide a receipt issued by your sponsor confirming the amount of fees paid.

Unless you rely on a student loan or on official financial sponsorship, you must show that you have held the required level of funds for a 28-day period, as explained in this post.

However, nationals of some countries do not need to show that they meet the financial requirement. Check whether you are one of those exempt. But remember that even if you do not need to provide evidence that you meet the financial requirement with the application, such evidence may still be required by the decision maker.
