English language requirement

To be granted a Student Visa in the UK, you must be awarded 70 points in total, 10 of which for meeting the English language requirement.

You must show English language ability on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in all 4 components (reading, writing, speaking and listening) of at least level B2, where you are studying a course at UK bachelor’s degree level or above, or level B1, where you are studying a pre-sessional course or a course below UK bachelor’s degree level.

You will meet the English language requirement if you have already met the requirement in a previous immigration application, if you are a national of any of the following majority-English-speaking countries, if you have an academic qualification, if you passed an approved English language test, if you have a GCSE or A level in English, if you have been assessed by a higher education provider with a track record of compliance, or if you are applying for a short-term study abroad programme.
